The only reason I got a new one was because my old one didn't have HDMI switching and some of the newer audio decoding modes. We can now hear the center channel like it was meant to be heard. Denon is one of the few amps for the money that has discrete amps for every channel. That coupled witha hefty power supply simply means almost 0% distortion. The Audigy auto speaker setup is great. Just plug in the mic and hit start. Then when you play your next movie, all the channels will be balanced correctly. The only thing I would ding it on is the audio switching when using HDMI switching. I want to be able to listen through the TV speakers once in a while without Surround Sound, The sound can not be sent to HDMI when speakers are selected which means going through the setup screens to change the audio out. I simply decided I would just leave it on speaker out. Buy this amp! You will NOT find the same quality sound from any hybrid amp. (Hybrid is where the amplifier is a monster integrated circuit rather than discrete components.) This is the perfect receiver for me, All my components have a HDMI out that connects to the receiver, My TV is a google 3D tv and I use Netflix and other apps, My TV does HDMI and fiber out sound which is accommodated by the receiver. My speaker set up is 6.1, Klipsh towers in the front, bookshelf in the back, sub, and one bad feakin sweet center. I'm not kidding, I'll be watching a movie and find myself wondering what a sound is, is it outside, did the kid just fall.the I realize its in the movie, this receiver is that good. They don't know where the sound is coming from and since it parred perfectly with Polk Audio speakers, the sound quality is unbelievable. Movies, music or online concerts are an experience to be heard for yourself. This is my second Denon system. My first system was given to my son. I was looking for somethihng that integrates with various mobile devices (iPad, iPhone, iPad). I did a search on-line for receivers and found out that this one was listed on many “best of the year” sites for mid-range receivers. After reviewing the features and comparing it to other mid-range receivers, it seemed like the best choice for my home theater set-up. Setting up the receiver was relatively easy and the automatic calibration features were very convenient. All of my speakers are well balanced. I haven’t had any compatibility issues with other devices. This product is loaded with features. In general, I have been able to use the different features with minor effort in trying to figure out how they work; however, I am still working through a couple of them to understand everything fully. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and would purchase again.Good feature set and decent sound quality for the money. The automatic calibration features for calibrating the speakers do a good job. I've seen this with cable and with Blu-Ray discs, so it's not an issue with the individual sources. I've also made sure to update the firmware to the latest version. If anyone has found a way to fix this issue I would love to hear about it. Also, the output seems kind of low for a receiver with a power rating of 875 watts. I have to turn the volume up to around 60 to get decent output from any source. Again, not a bad unit for the price, but could be better. NatemanKC Easy to set up; sounds great. Using the included microphone to calibrate the speakers for your room is a nice feature. I love using AirPlay to stream music from my iPod to the Denon.

1 configuration (Polk Audio speakers) although it is nice to know I can expand out to 7.1 by hooking up two more speakers and going back thru the speaker calibration step. The HDMI video pass thru works fine and the upconversion to 1080P is great. The analogue channels on my cable service (COX) now look a lot better. Plenty of power with the audio. Sounds great regardless of source. Although not a universal remote, the receiver remote is very intuitive and easy to use. I use my cable universal remote for basic operation (power, volume, mute, etc.) and the receiver remote for setup mods and source switching (TV, XBOX, etc.). No owner's manual booklet was provided (a first for me) but a PDF file is available on the supplied dvd. I copied this to my laptop and browsed thru it with no problem. I expect to be able to easily use it that way. The only complaint I have is that there is no wireless internet connection, only ethernet. Unless your home network router is next to the receiver or nearby, this presents a real problem for internet connectivity. I just happened to have a relatively old Linksys ethernet to wireless N gaming adapter. Once I synced the adapter with my router, the network setup on the receiver went smoothly and I was able to access the internet. I did a firmware update, then accessed internet radio which also sounded great. The adapter I used isn't sold anymore, but there are a number of ethernet to wireless N adapters and bridges out there.I have been happy with it from the start. The second zone is perfect and the mobile app is really handy when I want to tune the second zone without having to go back inside (zone 2 is in the backyard). I've noticed a couple of unfavorable things about this device. The mobile app hangs when you try to move too fast between menus but there is the remote control fallback. I can't prove it but the media server link may be causing some computer issues but nothing too terrible.

Bottom line, for the money this is a great tuner loaded with features. I'd buy it again. Posted 7 years ago.Lucky for me I bought the extended warranty. Bestbuy would not fix the old one due to the cost of repair(replacement was cheaper). They wanted to give me a Sony one in it's place. We came to an agreement and they gave me most of my original payment for the old one. I saw the reviews for the Denon so I checked it out. When I look at receivers I go by their weight. The Denon was as heavy as the Yamaha and had better features. This receiver sounds so much better than my old one. I hear sounds coming from the rear channels I never heard in my movies before. The auto speaker setup with the mic allows you to get the best sound for multiple seating locations. The on screen display is way better than the Yamaha. The only thing I don't like is that there is no paper owners manual. They include a disk that has the manual. That is time consuming to have to go to your computer to find what you need to do. This is a great receiver and I highly recommend it!! JTFAK I bought this receiver to upgrade from an older Denon I got for free. I was not excited about my older Denon so I was a bit nervous about this one but decided to get it based on features, price, and reviews. This receiver has HD 7.1 audio, multizone, decent power output, setup mic, front HDMI connection, and a new easy setup menu, all features I could not find in another unit for this price. The sound is great, setup was much better with the new menu, and overall I am very happy with this unit. The only gripes I have is that setup did not detect my 7.1 setup automatically so I had to manually set and the volume control with the remote is pretty twitchy with a delayed response.I will never go back, this unit comes with wifi connectivity as well as the microphone for fine tuning your sound automatically. I upgraded because my last unit only used optical connections when I needed HDMI in order to take advantage of bluray sound formats like dts-hd etc. So customizable its incredible and the sound doesnt even compare to my last unit. The ability to eq each speaker separately is definitely a plus. Not sure why they discontinued this unit so soon because I love it. It will require a lot of reading (the PDF manual and perhaps even internet forums) in order to successfully set this up and use it. For example, when you first power it on each time, you need to wait around 30 seconds for everything to connect and configure. If you move too fast, I have found that it can be non-responsive and perhaps even lock-up on you. Also - note that you will have to do a firmware update before you can even clog into Pandora due to a change at Pandora. Otherwise, the unit will not accept your password. But the upside is that it does sound really great -comparing it to my 10 year old Onkyo. The Audyssey setup is not too complicated and it does seem to make the unit sound much better than a manual configuration -which is also an option. Overall, I would say it's a very nice unit and good buy at the current clearance pricing. However, if you want something that is plug-n-play, I don't think you will be happy with this unit - and probably not happy with most of what's currently out there unless it's a basic unit with no networking or home theatre features. MLFan I love the bass that comes out of this little packaged subwoofer. It has plenty of bass for me and I rarely have to turn the level up half way. This is my 2nd Denon receiver and I'm just as impressed with this one as my Denon 2112. Set up was a breeze. Had it set-up and running in no time. It took longer to program my Harmony remote. Sound quality is great. Air play is working great. I'm looking forward to setting up the 2nd zone with my outside speakers. I went with this receiver because of the capability to use airplay in the zone 2 speakers.

I've only had it for a few days but very impressed so far. I would definitely recommend this to my friends.and even my enemies! Skip1000 This works well with my Panasonic TV and Pioneer surround speakers. The only thing I don't like is that when using it to listen to music (CD input, etc) the big DENON logo is right in the middle of the TV screen and it will not go away. The Denon folks confirmed that there is no option to turn it off. Would have been nice if Denon would have, at least, made it into a screen saver and had it bounce around the screen so there wouldn't be any chance of burn in. Some comments say it runs hot. With ambient at 72 degrees F, and the Denon in the open, I measured about 98 degrees F about one sixteenth inch off the top of the case and about 86 Degrees F about two inches above the top of the case. Basic routing is Direct HDTV box to Denon via HD HDMI, and Denon ARC to Panasonic ARC via HD HDMI. Using the Direct TV remote with this setup I can do all the basic functions; turn all three off with the push of one button, mute, change the volume, and turn on the Direct TV box and TV. To turn the Denon on, I have to move the slider switch to AV. For some unknown reason (handshake.?) I have to turn the Denon on last so it will sync correctly (recognize the HD surround signal from the Direct TV box?) and turn on the auto-on sub woofer. Otherwise, it seems to stay stuck in stereo mode and the subwoofer does not turn on at all. Bachk This receiver really woke my speakers up. I was using a much less powerful Yamaha and when I hooked this Denon up to my Bose speakers, the movies really came alive.

Set up was easy and I had no issue getting it up and running. I run a blu-ray, PS3, X-Box360, and a DirecTv box thru it with HDMI and have not been disappointed. The only thing I dislike is that I feel it should have more hook ups for speakers so that you dont have to give up 7.1 to run another zone. I have seen plenty of receivers that offer multi-zone and still give you the ability to run 7.1. Overall, not unhappy at all.My wife loves the ipod airplay. I like it all.
